Mr Dean Searley
Deputy Headteacher

I am beyond proud to be the Deputy Headteacher at The Academy, Selsey and be part of our journey to becoming an Ofsted 'Outstanding' School.
I live in Fareham and know Selsey well; I read for my degree in Sports and Exercise Science at the University of Chichester from 2005 and have explored many parts of the Manhood peninsula taking a keen interest in nature and watersports. My career journey took me through Secondary Schools on the Gosport peninsula, gaining a wide range of experience in teaching Mathematics and Physical Education, leading departments and Year Groups, developing careers provision and then spending 6 years as an Assistant Headteacher with a wide range of responsibilities.
My remit at The Academy, Selsey includes leading the Quality of the Curriculum, Behaviour and Attitudes, Safeguarding, Careers Provision, the Tutor Program, House System and Culture, and more in between.
I am extremely proud of the journey that the school has taken since I joined in September 2022. TAS is a wonderful community that exemplifies our mantra of #BeKind every single day.
I firmly believe that the key to achieving success for young people is to form open, clear and positive relationships with home and I am very much looking forward to meeting so many of you in the Selsey community as we work together to support our young people to develop their academic and cultural capital to give them the very best start before fulfilling their ambitions Post-16.
